    Read any good books lately?

I go through weird phases with reading and right now I'm on an "on" phase. I'm currently reading "lady oracle" by margaret atwood (one of my favorite authors) and I just finished "naamahs kiss" by Jacqueline Carey (if anyone is familiar with kushiels dart and the subsequent trilogies, this is a new one a few generations after the characters featured in the other books.

I'm totally working an extra night next week to buy an ebook reader.

    what are you guys reading?

I have been a big fan of Christopher Pike's "The Last Vampire" series since I was a teen. He recently came out with a 3 volume condensed version of the 6 books, with the 3rd book being all new material to the series! Waiting anxiously for the 3rd book to come out and have finished the first two "Thirst" books.

Starfire I LOVE your taste in novels, I devoured the kushiels series last year and have loved margaret Atwood forever!! Is Lady's Oracle something new from her? (damn is she still alive and writting) I haven't read her for years and am not sure if I got around to reading everything she wrote....

My current readings are all EDN recommendations.... I am on the 'His Dark Materials' series today, I read 'Reading Lolita in Tehran', which I enjoyed very much. Mostly I like reading fantasy fluff, and am probably a bit embarrassed to share the titles on my kindle, lol.

I just re-read the Wheel of Time series by Robert jordan, but was disappointed after reading through like 11 of them to realise it still isnt finished (I started that when I was in high school!) and what is more the last couple of books are written by someone else a the original author passed away.

I freakin love my kindle, Amazon has a list of recommended titles for me that I weed through every few days and download fro mother sources on the net....

according to this http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Lad...RI=lady+oracle it came out in 1998. Also according to wikipedia she is still alive. She is 70. She is one of my FAVORITE authors of all time.

I also really love alice hoffman. Also if you like the kushiels series, you should read the outlander series by diana gabaldon. It has the same kind of epic adventure, romancey kind of feel. Have you read A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin and the rest of the series? I bet you would like those as well!!

I LOVED the last vampire series when I was in middle school. It might be fun to re-read.

holy, crap i didn't know you guys read that stuff too- i read all of the cushiels this year (and liked it), and i read the first wheel of time book, but was like - hmmm, i love lord of the rings... i think i need to wait a little bit between my epic adventures. o, and i read game of thrones too...
i also think anyone that likes that sort of genre, should give robin hobb's assaisins aprentice trilogy a whirl. it was my favorite from all the books.

oh, and my fav recent book that strayed from fantasy was "girl with a dragon tattoo" trilogy- highly recomended

Short answer? No. Hah. I haven't read much since I finished college. Got rather burned out on it. However, I am open to rekindling my love of reading, so I'll be following this thread for suggestions!!

Okay, my favourites on my book shelf - Sherri Tepper, anything she rite is awesome, especially The Gate to Women's Country, and also Charles de Lint writes some really good fantasy novels too, I wanna live in his characters world!
